When I received the invitation from SAWF to join its team, I was excited to say the least. I was beaming with joy for days together.
I had been visiting SAWF for the past several months and I had come to identify it as a friendly, entertaining place in cyberspace with a difference. A difference that sets it apart from many other sites that I had visited and seen. From being an admirer and an avid reader of SAWF to being invited to join as its Editor, you can very well understand and appreciate my feelings of excitement. I feel proud and honoured to have been given an opportunity to work with a team of beautiful and creative people and for equally beautiful and creative readers.
I have always believed that the Internet has unlimited potential that can be exploited to create endless creative ways of bringing joy into people's lives. SAWF has demonstrated this by having such unique features as -
- An open invitation to anyone who wants to share a creative and constructive thought (be it a poem they have written or read, a recipe or a household tip or a photograph or a burning issue close to their heart). What is noteworthy is the fact that SAWF also demonstrates how much it values the contribution of the readers by neatly (automatically) creating a home page of their contributions. To make it to the front page of SAWF you don't need to be steering a billion dollar company or you don't have to be a film star or a famous singer all you need is a poem or a kitchen tip.
I still remember the feeling of joy and happiness that I felt when I submitted my first poem to the Poetry section and found that at the click of SUBMIT button, I had also created a home for my poems where each poem was displayed in a beautifully designed page ornate with lovely colourful flowers!!! I felt truly welcomed, valued, and respected and I am sure this feeling is shared by everyone who has submitted and contributed to pages of SAWF. I can't think of a single magazine that does this.
- Interviews, discussions and poem recitals in audio-video format, which is a recent feather in the cap of SAWF.
- And to top all that SAWF is interested and keen to be involved in projects that make a difference to the lives of people.
As its Editor, my vision for SAWF is to set it as an example in the world of webzines as an e-zine that is not just an HTML version of a magazine in print but that goes much beyond that. A webzine that also empowers and interacts with people from all walks of life by giving them a voice and by helping them share their creative side in many different ways. A webzine that is also a useful resource for networking and gathering support and resources to help a cause or a project that can make a difference to lives of the people. A webzine that achieves all of this in a creative and unique way. Anything short of that would mean we are under-utilizing the immense potential of this wonderful Internet technology.
I take this opportunity to invite all of you to help us turn our vision into reality. You can help us:
- By actively participating and contributing to all the features of SAWF
- By telling your friends and relatives about this place and by asking them to join our family
- By emailing us your suggestions and ideas that are in line with our vision.
Let us show the world how joy and happiness can be created and spread around when technology is mixed with creative ideas.
Until we connect again...
